5 Cute Gifts For the Kids

We always try (“try” being the key here) to be thoughtful in the gifts we give our kids for birthdays, Christmas, and just anytime. We want them to understand quality and not just quantity and give gifts that have more than one use - that’s not to say an LOL doll or Hatchimal doesn’t make it into our house…they absolutely do - we just try to make sure at least the majority of their gifts go the extra distance. As you can imagine, I love to look for gifts that encourage some sort of healthy habit as well. Here are 5 cute gift ideas for kids that encourage some sort of healthy habit for them and hopefully won’t be broken and strewn across the playroom floor 2 hours after you’ve finished opening presents…I’m looking at you L.O.L.Surprise! toys.

Opinel La Petit Chef Knife Set & Kid Apron - Letting your kids use a kitchen knife has to be one of the hardest parts of parenting…especially if you want to let them be involved in the cooking process. Both my older girls love to participate so getting them their own knife sets and aprons would be a major win in my house. If you have an older child who is really interested in cooking, combining this set with an online real foods cooking course would be an amazing gift set - quality time doing something they’ll love and learning skills they’ll have for a lifetime! And if red + blue isn’t their style of choice, these chef sets from Anthropologie are adorable!

The Complete Cookbook for Young Chef's by America’s Test Kitchen - Another gift for your kid who loves the kitchen. There is no better way to get your kid interested in cooking than to let them complete the entire process - thumbing through the cookbook, picking a recipe, shopping for ingredients, and then preparing and enjoying. This is such a fun way to spend time together and may pay off big time in the long run when they start cooking for you.

Dr. Teal’s Kids Lavender Bath Bombs - My girls LOVE a bath bomb in a major way so I know a giant bag of bath bombs will be a huge hit with them. I love Dr. Teal’s Lavender Epsom Salt Soak and I know they will love these fizzes as well. Dr. Teal’s is made with quality ingredients, is hypoallergenic, and contains soothing essential oils for calming down and better rest.

Weighted Blanket - Speaking of better rest, the weighted blanket love is real. Research is showing that using a weighted blanket helps kids fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer which is so important for the growth and development of their bodies and brains. This would be an especially great gift for kids who have trouble sleeping or are sensory sensitive, but I think any kid would love the fun colors and the extra rest! Pairing a blanket with a favorite book would be an awesome gift that you may love as much as they do! Speaking of favorite books, loving these two new (to me) kids books - The Monster Health Book and These Colors Are Bananas.

Fun Water Bottle - I don’t know how many times a day I encourage my girls to drink water…it’s a lot. They all love water bottles and anything new and shiny so new water bottles will likely be making their way into their stockings. I’ve read some great reviews about this Thermos one (above) as well as the Nalgene Kids that can completely go in the dishwasher…that’s a win in my book because cleaning a water bottle…not for the faint of heart.
